本課程旨在從疾病傳播與醫藥發展的面向,講述以西歐社會為主的人類歷史發展。首先從生物與社會層面認識疾病的發生,其後大致上按著時間先後介紹影響人類歷史走向的重大傳染病,如鼠疫、天花、霍亂、肺結核、瘧疾、血絲蟲病、黃熱病、麻風與梅毒等,同時講述這些傳染病的預防手段和醫藥發明,與當時社會的風俗習慣、經濟發展乃至國家政權之間的關聯。This course aims to describe the development of human history based on the Western European society from the perspective of disease transmission and medical development.
