本課程為歷史學系台灣史領域、銜接台灣史(上)之必修課程。課程內容主要以近代化後至當代的台灣歷史作為講授、研討對象，時間軸範圍含涉清領開埠後，乃至於全球化之台灣經濟發展過程，但特別著重於資本近代化加速的日治時期以及戰後族群意識演化等的歷史變遷。基於以上，本課程將修習內容分為三大部分。
第一部分為近代後台灣史之觀念。此部分先說明柄谷行人的「世界=帝國」文明圈構造轉化至華勒斯坦的「世界=經濟」世界體系的觀點，以此探討台灣於世界歷史中的定位變遷；再來以矢內原忠雄的經典與當代研究探討以殖民作為台灣歷史研究的主流觀點，以及對於相異於西方近代化的不同理解視野；之後再以班乃迪克想像的共同體作為基礎，教授台灣近代發展中的群體意識的變化，以及學術界的分析與理解；另外講授時代精神（Zeitgeist）之概念，讓修習者能夠有剖析社會發展中的各種現象集成，理解於不同時期整體社會有著不同的模式。最後再以1950年代後的台灣史學乃至於新史學的觀點發展作為觀念傳授之總結。
第二部分為台灣政治、經濟在近代化後發展下的社會過程史，是以通史的方式講授課程。這部分原則上講授下列觀點為基礎的歷史分期。西方勢力進入與大清全島統治、改朝換代與族群齟齬、殖產興業下的處境、統治成熟與戰爭窘迫、「光復」後的境遇、西方陣營與威權統治、成熟經濟與社會改革、民主化與多元化、全球競爭下的發展與困境。
第三部分為議題式研討與探究方法。此部分先由授課教員傳授台灣史的多種可能切入視角、既有的研究方法以及各種文獻資料庫資源運用與操作；接者授課教員並講授台灣史研究之案例，分析其研究觀點與分析手法，目前暫以區域史、建築史作為主題；最後由課程修習者嘗試以議題性方式分組研討，並於課程中發表其組內統合之史觀與研討分析過程。以上分組研討修習者可依小組共識選定a.族群群體、b.文化藝術、c.物質社會、d.涉外政治、e.思想意識等主要視點。
上述本課程之三大部分會依修習者學習狀況調整或更改進度，此外也預計安排台灣史的一日史蹟踏察行程，並斟酌情況邀請台灣史研究之專家於課堂進行專題講座。This course is a compulsory course for the history department of Taiwan history and the history of Taiwan (Part 1). The course content mainly takes the teaching and research targets from modernization to contemporary Taiwan history. The range of time includes the economic development process of Taiwan's economic development involving Qing Dynasty and even the globalization of the globalization of Taiwan. This part first explains the perspective of the "world = empire" civilization circle structure of the "world = economy" transformation to Hualestinian's "world = economy" world system, in order to explore Taiwan's positioning change in world history; then, Tadao Yauchihara Classical and contemporary research explores colonization as the mainstream view of Taiwan’s historical research, as well as different understandings of Western modernization Vision; then, based on the common imagination of Benedik, he taught the changes in group consciousness in modern development in Taiwan, as well as the analysis and understanding of the academic community; in addition, he taught the concept of Zeitgeist, so that practitioners can analyze society The various phenomena in development are integrated, and the understanding that the overall society has different models at different times. Finally, the development of Taiwan history and even new histories after the 1950s was used as a summary of the concept teaching.
The second part is the social process history of Taiwan’s politics and economy under the post-modern development, which teaches courses in the form of general history. This part of the principles teaches the following views as basic historical installment. The West has entered the state of the Qing Dynasty, changed the dynasty and the ethnic group, the situation under the colonial spirit, the maturity of the governance and the embarrassment of war, the situation after "light resurrection", Western aggression and authority, mature economy and social reform, democratization and diversity development and dilemma under global competition.
The third part is a discussion on topical discussion and exploration methods. This part first teaches the teaching instructors a variety of possible perspectives, existing research methods, and the use and operation of various library resources; the recipient teaches the teaching instructors and teaches cases of Taiwan history research, analyzing their research points and analytical methods. Currently, regional history and architectural history are the themes; the course trainees will try to discuss in a topical manner, and publish the historical view and research and analysis process of their organizational combinations in the course. The above sub-groups can select major points such as a. ethnic group, b. cultural art, c. material society, d. foreign-related politics, e. ideological and ideological consciousness, etc.
The three most of the courses mentioned above will adjust or change progress according to the learning status of the trainees. In addition, a one-day history inspection schedule for Taiwan history is also planned, and experts in Taiwan history research will be invited to hold special lectures in the classroom as appropriate.
