監獄主要工作內涵為刑罰之執行，具有應報、嚇阻、隔離與矯正犯罪人之多重功能，為刑事司法體系重要且不可或缺之一環。近年在法治與行為科學之突飛猛進及大量專業人員之投入下，監獄逐步邁入專業化之里程。透過各類專業人員，如精神科醫師、心理師、社工員、教誨師、個案工作員、各階層管理人員…，運用現代行為科學技術與各類輔導、處遇措施，對各類受刑人進行矯正工作，備受政府重視。本課程之教學目標為促學生深入探討監獄學在刑事執行上之目標、內涵及重要任務，從中瞭解其主要運作作為與規定，進而拓展學術視野，奠立未來從事法學刑事司法研究之基礎。主要授課內容包括犯罪矯正之功能、歷史淵源與發展、犯罪矯正與刑事司法各部門之關係及其定位、犯罪矯正收容現況、當前犯罪矯正之主要哲學、犯罪矯正行政與處遇、剖析犯罪矯正機構內之生活樣態與特性、犯罪矯正紀律與戒護、犯罪矯正機構內較具成效之輔導處遇技術與方案、各類型及特殊類型犯罪人處遇、國際間之犯罪矯正修法之動向、台灣犯罪矯正業務現況與展望等。The main work of the supervisor is the execution of punishment, and has multiple functions of responding, hindering, isolating and correcting criminals.
