以文章與作品深入淺出的介紹或導讀方式帶領學生了解台灣美術各時期發展與藝術家創作風格特色，以及各時代政治、社會、經濟等所牽動影響美術發展的重要議題討論。探尋與土地認同歸依的體認及與世界接軌的基點，並自主性思考研究台灣美術史根植於自己土地、人民及歷史的建構。Through in-depth introductions or guided readings of articles and works, students will be led to understand the development of Taiwanese art in various periods and the creative styles and characteristics of artists, as well as the discussion of important issues affecting the development of art such as politics, society, and economy in each era. Explore the recognition of identity with the land and the basis for integration with the world, and independently think and study the construction of Taiwan's art history rooted in our own land, people and history.
本課程內容將從十七世紀荷蘭治理台灣至1945年第二次世界大戰日本治理台灣結束前，沿著近世至近代歷史分期介紹台灣美術各時期發展及代表藝術家與作品，主要含括：(1)荷蘭時期台灣美術 (2)明鄭與清治時期書畫特色(3)台灣近代美術發展概況(4) 日治時期東洋畫、西洋畫、雕塑的面貌與「地方色彩」等講述與討論。
The content of this course will start from the Dutch administration of Taiwan in the 17th century to the end of the Japanese administration of Taiwan in World War II in 1945. It will introduce the development of Taiwanese art in various periods and representative artists and works along the modern to modern history. It mainly includes: (1) ) Taiwanese art during the Dutch period (2) Characteristics of calligraphy and painting during the Ming, Zheng and Qing rule periods (3) Overview of the development of modern Taiwan art (4) Introduction and discussion of the appearance of Eastern paintings, Western paintings, sculptures and "local colors" during the Japanese colonial period.
