農業生產係維持人類生存的重要根基，也對國家安定具影響力(穩定食物價格與維持民生需求)，亦為決定各國全球競爭力之重要因子。因此，農業影響我們的食、衣、住、行、休閒，即使非直接從事農業工作，生活中的各類所需都脫離不了農業。
而農業推廣，係指農業推廣機構整合農業推廣資源，應用資訊傳播、人力資源發展或行政服務等方式，提供農業推廣對象終身教育機會及促進農、林、漁、牧產銷業務與農村社區發展之計畫活動。本課程不須先修基礎，僅須對農業有興趣即可。
●課程目標及內涵：
一、培育新一代年青學子，提早了解農業，建立農業永續經營觀念。
二、提升學生對各項農業資訊力的了解，建立未來農業經營的核心優勢。
三、協助學生提早了解各項農業的經營特色與時代趨勢。
四、協助學生了解農業轉型升級之現況(如：休閒農業、食農教育、森林/園藝療育)，配合國際發展情勢，將農村改造以新面貌重新讓國人來體驗鄉村之美。
