從工業革命、網路革命到現在的二次工業革命，從集居、都市擴張、全球化到全球地方化，人類的生活與社會發生了本質性的改變。速度與效率的追求換來的是汲汲營營步伐中被我們忽略的環境議題；生活品質的改善與流行的變動下所伴隨的是邊緣化與弱勢生態族群的消失。當全球面對所有人類直接與間接活動所導致的極端氣候時，各個國家才發現大自然反撲的驚人氣候風險，意識形態中的人定勝天在當代永續地球運動下成為一個弔詭的話題。
本課程將由都市社會發展的鏡頭下解析所謂的「灰色基礎設施」與環境的議題，由永續環境觀點中的「慢性系統」來導入海綿城市的都市處理手法。隨著氣候風險的提高，師法自然的設計手法如何成功的提升環境承受氣候風險的韌性。經由探討「以自然為本的解決方案」（Nature-Based Solutions，簡稱「自然解方（NbS）」）系統中最主要的空氣、水與生態三個系統，來教導學生在面對都市相關空間議題上可以操作的自然解方，同時也探討社區營造與民眾參與在現代環境營造中的必要性。

From the industrial revolution, the Internet revolution to the current second industrial revolution, from settlement, urban expansion, globalization to global localization, human life and society have undergone fundamental changes. The pursuit of speed and efficiency has resulted in environmental issues that have been ignored in our busy pace; the improvement of life quality and changes in fashion have been accompanied by the disappearance of marginalized and disadvantaged ecological groups. When the world faces extreme climate caused by all direct and indirect human activities, various countries discover the alarming climate risks of nature's counterattack. The ideology of man's victory over nature has become a paradoxical topic under the contemporary sustainable earth movement.
This course will analyze the so-called "grey infrastructure" and environmental issues from the perspective of urban social development, and introduce sponge city urban processing methods from the "chronic system" in the perspective of sustainable environment. As climate risks increase, how can design techniques inspired by nature successfully improve the environment's resilience to climate risks? By exploring the three most important systems of air, water and ecology in the "Nature-Based Solutions" (NbS) system, we will teach students how to deal with urban-related spaces. It also explores the practical and natural solutions to the issue, and also explores the necessity of community creation and public participation in the creation of modern environment.
