簡單而言，社會科學研究法乃是針對問題而尋求答案的一種過程，也是一種邏輯思考的訓練。社會科學研究法不僅是一種方法，一種工具，更是吾人追尋知識的思考架構。換言之，吾人是有系統地使用這些方法來了解所謂的「事實」。社會科學研究法這門課希望能達到下列目標：
一、 了解社會科學研究的目的與重要性。
二、 探討理論與研究的關係。
三、 明瞭調查結構設計之作用。
四、 觀察方法的應用。

Simply put, social science research method is a process of finding answers to problems and a training of logical thinking. Social science research method is not only a method or a tool, but also a thinking structure for us to pursue knowledge. In other words, we use these methods systematically to understand the so-called "facts". The Social Science Research Method course hopes to achieve the following goals:
1. Understand the purpose and importance of social science research.
2. Explore the relationship between theory and research.
3. Understand the role of investigation structure design.
4. Application of observation methods.
5. Mastering data analysis methods.
