理論在學習單元中，經常被視為無聊、抽象難懂的單元。學者Fine(2001)卻指稱沒有理論難以定義變項，也無法凝聚知識的價值。理論其實是引導實務的藍圖，沒了理論實務工作只能土法煉鋼、依憑直覺、經驗法則，見招拆招。缺乏變項定義將無法檢核評估實務運作的結果，自然難以凝聚知識。本課程旨在提供碩士班經由實務經驗中整理、回顧過去所用所學，期待藉此能為日後投身實務工作所需的知識理論及行動做好基礎準備。
社會工作始於對社會問題的關注，若依Francis J. Turner（2017）所著Social Work Treatment-Interlocking Theory Approaches一書計收錄38種理論。這些理論多少都受精神分析學派的影響，有的從精神分析學派再發展，或站在反對精神分析學派的立場；晚近後現代的理論則是受到福利資源的限制而新創，有的則是以更貼近社會真實的系統觀生態關來評量，處遇問題的發生。社會工作這門專業演化近100年來，多數助人理論是社會工作與其他助人專業共用的理論；僅有少數是社會工作獨門發展的例如心理暨社會學派，任務中心取向。每一種理論的發展都有其時代背景，對人性（問題）的假設，這些助人信念也牽動助人者的位置，助人關係等。
學生於本課程中除了應學習社會工作常用的助人理論，包括該理論的基本假設，理論建構與理論運作等，也應該由理論星圖中定位一個理論的定位，區辨期間的差異，更重要的助人工作者應該學習並反思，這些理論如何被應用與其對助人工作帶來的影響。
Theory is often regarded as a boring, abstract and difficult unit in learning units. Scholar Fine (2001) simply said that there is no rationale to define changes and cannot condense the value of knowledge. Theories are actually blue pictures that guide practical work. Without theoretical work, you can only use the method of steel, follow the direct view, and experience the rules to find countermeasures. The lack of change definitions will not allow the results of actual operation to be verified and evaluated, which will naturally be difficult to gather knowledge. This course aims to provide a graduate class that is organized through practical experience and reviewed what has been learned in the past, hoping to prepare for the knowledge and theory and actions required to devote yourself to practical work in the future.
Social work begins with the focus on social issues, and according to the book Social Work Treatment-Interlocking Theory Approaches by Francis J. Turner (2017), it contains 38 theoretical discussions. These theories are somewhat influenced by the psychoanalytic school. Some have developed from the psychoanalytic school or stand on the stance of the psychoanalytic school; recent post-modern theories are newly created by the limitations of welfare resources, while others are Evaluate with a systemic ecological relationship that is closer to social reality and encounter problems. In the past 100 years of professional evolution of social work, most of the theory of helping people is a common theory of social work and other professional helping people; only a few are the development of social work, such as psychological and social schools, and the mission-centered orientation. The development of each theory has its own historical background, assumptions about human nature (questions), these beliefs of helping others also promote the position of those who help others, and help others, etc.
In this course, students should not only learn the helpful theory commonly used in social work, including the basic assumptions of the theory, theoretical construction and theoretical theory operations, but also position a theoretical theory in the theory star to distinguish the differences during the period. Helping workers should learn and reflect on how these theories are applied and their impact on helping work.
本課程主要目標在於幫助碩士班同學對於社會工作理論與派別之哲學背景、理論內容、及實務運用，有整體性的瞭解及發展出對實務與理論的邏輯、批判的思考。
