課程目標在於讓研究所同學了解在全球化與美中競爭的發展下，兩岸政府已經無法獨自決定統獨，彼此經濟的發展深受地緣政治影響。此外，兩岸經濟合作和社會矛盾也發揮相互作用。
課程內涵展現在幾部部分。第一，國家利益，思想和制度在兩岸關係中的相關性。第二，以政治經濟學與國際關係理論研究分析兩岸的發展及其相互作用。簡言之，由於中共發展的帶路倡議與天下體系已經挑戰美歐主導的自由主義國際秩序，未來兩岸在人民、政府、經濟三元互動，都關係到當前台海局勢的發展。

The goal of the course is to let graduate students understand that with the development of globalization and competition between the United States and China, the governments on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are no longer able to decide on unification and independence on their own, and each other's economic development is deeply affected by geopolitics. In addition, cross-strait economic cooperation and social conflicts also interact with each other.
The content of the course is presented in several parts. First, the relevance of national interests, ideas and systems in cross-strait relations. Second, analyze the development and interaction between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait through political economics and international relations theory. In short, since the Belt and Road Initiative and the Tianxia system developed by the CCP have challenged the liberal international order dominated by the United States and Europe, the future interaction between the people, the government, and the economy on both sides of the Taiwan Strait will have a bearing on the current development of the situation in the Taiwan Strait.
