燃料電池(Fuel cell)被認為是廿一世紀最重要的十大科技之一,是達成2050年淨零減碳排放非常重要的發電技術之一,這是因為燃料電池產電過程,僅生成水或少許的二氧化碳,對環境是非常友善的綠色能源轉換裝置,其中高分子電解質燃料電池(PEMFC)由於運作於室溫,使這類燃料電池可應用於移動式或可攜式電源,甚至是分散式發電機,目前已有許多應用發表如Toyota於2015、2020年生產的第一代及第二代燃料電池車(Mirai),另外也有韓國Hyundai公司生產的NEXO Fuel cell car等。本課程藉由圖像方式介紹燃料電池之基本組成元件、觸媒技術、高分子電解質、元件設計、燃料電池組設計、燃料電池分析技術及未來發展,使學生對燃料電池有深入的認識,並激發對相關研究的興趣,同時利用相關技術協助研究、設計、及製作燃料電池元件。為讓學生對燃料電池有具體的認識並提升學生的動手實作能力,課程會教導學生製作一個燃料電池,並進行發電測試作為期未的成果發表及評量。Fuel cell cell) is considered to be one of the top ten most important technologies in the 21st century.
