Special Topics on Cellular Electrophysiology (I)
The electrophysiological activity of cells is generated by the activity of ion channels on the cell membrane surface. For example, ion channels function to initiate, transmit, and terminate electrical activity in nerve and muscle cells. In other non-excitable cells, ion channels also regulate many key physiological processes, such as the reabsorption of water in the renal tubules, the release of insulin from the pancreatic islet gland, the fertilization process of eggs, and the development of immune cells. The goal of this course is to enable students to gradually acquire the ability to independently operate instruments and equipment through the reading of research literature, group discussions, and experimental operations, as well as to acquire the latest physiology, pathology, and translational medicine in the fields related to ion channel research. Basic knowledge to develop the ability to conduct basic research on cell electrophysiology.
