柏拉圖《理想國》(Republic,又譯《國家篇》)是西洋哲學重要的經典著作,其中涉及的課題涵蓋正義、教育、善、存有論、靈魂、藝術等等,影響至今。本課程希望透過文本研讀,研讀《理想國》,瞭解柏拉圖重要的哲學思維:正義和國家的起源,善和理型論,存有與存有層級,可見世界和可知世界的區分,教育與人的本質、哲人王教育與今天的教育問題,柏拉圖的生死觀,以及藝術與真理的關係。
Plato's "Republic" (also translated as "The Republic") is an important classic work of Western philosophy. It covers topics such as justice, education, goodness, ontology, soul, art, etc., and its influence continues to this day. This course hopes to understand Plato's important philosophical thinking through text study of "The Republic": justice and the origin of the state, theory of goodness and theory, existence and levels of existence, the distinction between the visible world and the knowable world, education and human beings The nature of education, the education of the philosopher king and today's educational issues, Plato's view of life and death, and the relationship between art and truth.
