本課程的目標在於使學生瞭解「文化研究」（Cultural Studies）的主要理論、處理的議題、觀察的對象、使用的研究方法，以及相關議題與論述方法在文學批評上的應用與實踐，並將所學應用在自己所感興趣領域的研究中。聚焦探討的範疇與議題為：
1. 知識與權力: 結構主義、後結構主義
2. 文化認同: 主體、歷史建構
3. 文化地理學: 空間、城市、地方、全球化
4. 後現代文化: 擬像、懷舊、大眾文化、雅俗

The goal of this course is to enable students to understand the main theories of "Cultural Studies" (Cultural Studies), the issues dealt with, the objects of observation, the research methods used, as well as the application and practice of related issues and discussion methods in literary criticism, and to apply what they have learned in research in their fields of interest. The areas and topics focused on are:
1. Knowledge and power: structuralism, poststructuralism
2. Cultural identity: subject, historical construction
3. Cultural geography: space, city, place, globalization
4. Postmodern culture: simulacra, nostalgia, popular culture, elegance and vulgarity
