本課程之基本教學目的雖在於協助學生了解西方漢學之發展,以及使學生具備蒐尋與閱讀西方漢學文獻之能力,但考量英文論文閱讀能力可透過耳聽、口讀等途徑漸進培養,另考量到研究方法與論文寫作是碩士班學生所需要的知識基礎,因此第一學期的課程較著重於以下四項目標之前三項,第二學期則較著重於第四項目標(課程規劃將依學生個別程度調整內容):
一、加強學生英文聽說讀等三方面的基本能力
二、培養學生具備人文學科研究方法與撰寫論文的基本知識
三、培養學生具備搜尋西方漢學文獻及閱讀漢學文獻摘要之能力
四、培養學生具備閱讀以英文寫作之西方漢學文獻內容的能力Although the basic teaching purpose of this course is to help students understand the development of Western Han and enable students to have the ability to educate and read Western Han literature, considering the ability to read English essays, you can improve and cultivate them through ear listening, oral reading and other ways, and also consider Research methods and writing of essays are the knowledge bases needed by students in juvenile classes. Therefore, the courses in the first session focus on three items before the following four items, and the second session focus on the fourth item (the course plan will adjust the content according to the students' degree):
1. Strengthen students' basic abilities in three aspects, including English listening and reading
2. Cultivate students to prepare humanities research methods and basic knowledge of writing articles
3. Cultivate students to have the ability to search Western Han literature and read Han literature abstracts
4. Cultivate students to prepare to read Western Han literature written in English
