Course Description:
This 2-credit course is designed to enhance students' English oral proficiency, speaking confidence, and "real-world" vocabulary through a variety of dialogues from popular television and film scenes.
Students will explore authentic language usage through a combination of dialogue scenes, multimedia, and instructor-guided activities. They will expand their vocabulary and learn common everyday idiomatic and slang expressions. The course will enhance their listening comprehension skills and improve their speaking and pronunciation abilities. Students will also gain cultural insights and awareness of social etiquette and contextual factors for language usage.
The purpose of this course is for students to learn language for practical application in various life scenarios. These include social interactions between friends, professional interactions in the workplace, and other common situations found in daily life.
Class materials will consist of excerpts from a variety of shows provided by the instructor.
Course Objectives:
On completion of the course, students will be able to
