As beings in the space environment, people are constantly exploring, identifying and finding ways to settle down. It is not only the utilization of the natural environment, but also the establishment of a social space for coexistence with others. These spaces have formed humanistic order and thinking through historical accumulation. This course uses humanistic space as material and explores it from a historical perspective supplemented by disciplinary perspectives in different fields. It not only gives practitioners a way to understand their own external space, understand the historical connotation behind it, but also find its humanistic value. In addition, we also care about the issues of contemporary spatial practice, understand the conflict between history and development, and seek the importance and methods of humanities in spatial sustainability. Based on the above, the specific course objectives and connotations are listed below:
1. Let practitioners understand the concept of historical and humanistic space. That is to say, we realize that space is not only a combination of phenomenological elements of natural science, but also abstract concepts constructed by humanities and society, such as traditional order, are also important perspectives in the composition of space.
2. Allow practitioners to understand the vision and methods of historical and humanistic space. In addition to the understanding of space exploration at different scales such as geography and architecture, the observation of integrating the concepts of time and space in history is also important to learn.
3. Let practitioners think about the value of historical and humanistic space. That is, starting from collective memory and cultural consensus, we think about the value behind traditional or conventional spaces.
4. Let practitioners explore the practical possibilities of historical and humanistic sustainability. It leads practitioners to explore contemporary issues such as the contradiction between urban renewal and the preservation of historical buildings, the disappearance of the sense of place in space due to the homogenization of neoliberal globalization, and to seek various sustainable possibilities ranging from political and economic to cultural action.
