基督教信仰影響西方文化兩千年之久，聖經是基督教信仰的基礎，其中舊約聖經各卷書的成書至今都已超過兩千年，若不了解背景，不易讀懂內容。本課程的目的是為舊約聖經作導讀，介紹舊約聖經的成書、內容、背景以及現代考古學的發現，讓學生能讀懂舊約聖經，進而認識基督教信仰。本課程除舊約書卷的內容介紹外，也介紹舊約聖經影響下所產生的藝術作品，使學生可以進一步認識舊約聖經在人類文化中的影響，並用小組討論讓學生思考聖經的原則如何應用到現代生活，進而認識人類文明的深層價值，深入了解這兩千多年前的經典對現代社會的意義。Christian faith has influenced Western culture for two thousand years.
