At the end of this course, you will be able to
• Describe the diversity of roles that managers play.
• Describe key features of managerial decision-making that differ from everyday decision-making.
• Recognize common barriers to effective managerial decision-making.
• Recognize common barriers to effective group decision-making.
• Distinguish the major schools of thought that have shaped Management as a field of study.
• Recognize the connection between a country’s culture and traits common to managers in that country.
• Understand the many ways in which a firm can choose to “internationalize.”
• Describe the most common types of organizational charts.
• Recognize how organizational design may evolve as a firm grows.
• Distinguish the forces in a firm’s external environment from those in its internal environment.
• Recognize how environmental forces shape a firm’s competitive strategy.
• Understand strategy as a top-down process in which the firm’s mission and vision shape the actions of employees at all levels.
