陳映真的文學創作是現實主義的,隨時關注著當代台灣社會的重要問題。從1950年代以來的國際冷戰,1960年代的中西文化與現代詩論戰,1970年代的保釣運動、鄉土文學論戰,1980年代的跨國資本與全球化,乃至1990年代以來對理想主義的歷史回顧與反思,都深刻地反映在陳映真的小說作品中。這些影響著當代台灣社會的重要社會議題論,陳映真猶如社會學家那樣地思考與分析著。通過閱讀陳映真的小說,得以激發我們重新認識和思考這些社會議題。
陳映真又是繼承傳統和面向傳統的。比如說,陳映真曾經提到要“更好地學習楊逵精神,做好楊逵先生的學生自勉。"這不僅在繼承日據時期台灣文學的寫實主義傳統的意義上,還在民族團結意義上接續和開展反帝反殖的傳統。陳映真更是力行實踐,在1985年創辦的《人間》雜誌,這份雜誌廣泛而深入地報導和關懷勞工、農民、原住民、以及環境等議題。《人間》雖然只發刊5年左右,卻影響了無數的學子。如今重讀發刊詞:“我們盼望透過「人間」,使彼此陌生的人重新熱絡起來;使彼此冷陌的社會,重新互相關懷;使相互生疏的人,重新建立對彼此生活與情感的理解;使塵封的心,能夠重新去相信、希望、愛和感動,共同為了重新建造更適合人所居住的世界,為了再造一個新的、優美的、崇高的精神文明,和睦團結,熱情地生活。"依然讓人有熱切的共鳴。
這門課的企圖是,藉由閱讀陳映真的小說和視角,對戰後台灣的和區域的歷史和社會思潮進行探索與重新認識。主要閱讀材料是陳映真數十年來的小說創作,課前務必細讀文本,寫下閱讀心得,作為每次上課討論和學期報告寫作的基礎。每次上課進行方式是同學分組討論,引言報告,教師總結討論。學期成績來自學期報告50%、電影心得25%,以及讀書筆記數篇佔25%。學期報告在期末由每位同學以口頭報告後繳交。
Chen Yingzhen's literary creation is realistic and always pays attention to important issues in contemporary Taiwanese society. From the international Cold War since the 1950s, the debate between Chinese and Western culture and modern poetry in the 1960s, the Diaoyu Islands Protection Movement and the local literature debate in the 1970s, transnational capital and globalization in the 1980s, and even the historical review and reflection on idealism since the 1990s , are deeply reflected in Chen Yingzhen's novels. Chen Yingzhen thinks and analyzes these important social issues affecting contemporary Taiwanese society like a sociologist. By reading Chen Yingzhen's novels, we can be inspired to re-understand and think about these social issues.
Chen Yingzhen inherits tradition and faces tradition. For example, Chen Yingzhen once mentioned that we should "learn Yang Kui's spirit better and be a good student of Mr. Yang Kui to encourage ourselves." This is not only in the sense of inheriting the realism tradition of Taiwanese literature during the Japanese occupation, but also in the sense of national unity. and carry out anti-imperialist and anti-colonial traditions. Chen Yingzhen put it into practice and founded the "Human World" magazine in 1985. This magazine extensively and deeply reported on and cared about labor, farmers, aborigines, and the environment. Although "Human World" has only been published for about five years, it has influenced countless students. Now re-read the publication's words: "We hope that through "Human World", people who are strangers to each other can become warm again; that the society that is alienated from each other can care for each other again; that people who are strangers to each other can re-establish an understanding of each other's lives and emotions; The dusty hearts can once again believe, hope, love and be moved, and work together to rebuild a world more suitable for people to live in, to recreate a new, beautiful and noble spiritual civilization, to live in harmony and unity, and to live passionately. The purpose of this course is to explore and re-understand postwar Taiwanese and regional history and social trends through reading Chen Yingzhen’s novels and perspectives. The main reading material is Chen Yingzhen’s novels written over decades. Before class, you must read the text carefully and write down your reading experience as the basis for each class discussion and term report writing. Each class is conducted by group discussion by students, introduction report, and teacher summary discussion. The semester grade comes from the semester report (50%), movie experience (25%), and reading notes (25%). The semester report is handed in after each student gives an oral report at the end of the semester.
