講座緣起：練馬可教授（Mark C. Thelin, 1933-2014）在東海大學社會學系任教32年，曾獲台灣社會學會頒發終身成就獎(2010)。練馬可教授對於本系自由學風以及學系發展卓有貢獻。他曾說：「我的大作就是我的學生」，為東海社會系樹立「尊重知識，善待學生」的典範。
本講座課程由賀榮貞基金贊助，邀請社會學及相關領域近期出版新書的學者分享研究成果，以及新近退休的學界前輩回顧學思歷程，讓本系師生一覽當前台灣社會學景觀，掌握學界脈動，並見賢思齊。
Origin of the lecture: Professor Mark C. Thelin (1933-2014) taught in the Department of Sociology of Tunghai University for 32 years and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Taiwan Sociological Society (2010). Professor Nerima has made great contributions to the liberal style of study and the development of the department. He once said: "My masterpieces are my students", setting an example of "respecting knowledge and treating students well" for the Department of Social Sciences.
This lecture course is sponsored by the He Rongzhen Foundation. Scholars who have recently published new books in sociology and related fields are invited to share their research results, as well as recently retired academic seniors to review their academic history. This course allows teachers and students in the department to have an overview of the current sociological landscape in Taiwan and grasp the pulse of the academic world. , and see the wise and think about them.
