環境領域不論是物理化學領域；如污染處理、污染檢驗，或是生物領域；如環境中微生物的應用、生態調查，或是環境管理領域；如環境影響評估、大數據分析、人工智能的應用，這些的基礎都是「數字」，數字的真確性會造成環境資訊的錯誤，統計學的知識可以避免這類事情的發生。但環境數據的來源有其限制性，如果單純以統計學或是大數據分析之觀念隨意將數據進行分析來取得資訊於環境領域的判斷是相當危險的。因此開設此課程將環境與統計的技術相結合，提昇環境領域學生能更認知如何正確處理及分析數據、應用數據。Whether it is the field of physical chemistry; such as pollution treatment, pollution inspection, or the biological field; such as the application of microorganisms in the environment, ecological surveys, or environmental management; such as environmental impact assessment, big data analysis, and the application of artificial intelligence. The basis of these are "numbers". The accuracy of numbers will cause errors in environmental information. Statistical knowledge can prevent such things from happening. However, the sources of environmental data have their limitations. It is quite dangerous to analyze the data at will to obtain information for judgment in the environmental field simply based on the concepts of statistics or big data analysis. Therefore, this course is offered to combine environmental and statistical techniques to enhance students' understanding of how to correctly process, analyze and apply data in the environmental field.
