本課程為下列幾項暑期田野課程的學分課程,1. 暑期國際田野, 2. 珊瑚礁生物多樣性與水下生態調查技術研習會, 3. 熱帶暑期田野。經甄選通過上述幾項暑期課程並完成要求後,得以選修給予學分。學期中將進行一次成果報告。
珊瑚礁水下調查課程大綱如下:
珊瑚礁生態系發育於熱帶與亞熱帶淺水海域,被暱稱為「海中的熱帶雨林」。珊瑚礁區不僅生物多樣性高,同時也由於珊瑚礁大多發育於大陸或是島嶼的邊緣,長年水質清澈,平均水溫介於攝氏22度到28度,提供我們親近海洋,學習海洋生物多樣性與生態知識的寶庫。而接近珊瑚礁最好具備浮潛或是水肺潛水等技術,特別是當要以水肺潛水技術進行珊瑚礁生物多樣性採樣和生態調查時,必須進ㄧ步接受科學潛水(scientific diving)的訓練與認證,不僅可以確保水中作業的安全,同時可以學習正確的科學知識,在水下調查作業過程中確保自身的安全,同時不造成珊瑚礁的破壞。

This course is a credit course for the following summer field courses, 1. Summer International Field, 2. Coral Reef Biodiversity and Underwater Ecological Survey Technology Workshop, 3. Tropical Summer Field. After passing the selection of the above-mentioned summer courses and completing the requirements, elective credits will be given. There will be an outcome report during the semester.
The syllabus for the Coral Reef Underwater Survey course is as follows:
Coral reef ecosystems develop in tropical and subtropical shallow waters and are nicknamed "tropical rainforests in the sea." Coral reef areas not only have high biodiversity, but also because coral reefs are mostly developed on the edges of continents or islands. The water quality is clear all year round, and the average water temperature is between 22 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius. It allows us to get close to the ocean and learn about marine biodiversity and ecology. A treasure trove of knowledge. It is best to have snorkeling or scuba diving skills when approaching coral reefs. Especially when using scuba diving techniques to conduct coral reef biodiversity sampling and ecological surveys, you must further receive scientific diving training and Certification not only ensures the safety of underwater operations, but also allows you to learn correct scientific knowledge to ensure your own safety during underwater survey operations without causing damage to coral reefs.
