In addition to human and social science research, conservation research is more important to understand the ecological behavior of organisms and other biological information, so that effective biological conservation can be carried out.
This conservation biology project is carried out by teachers Wu Liwei and Wen Guozhang from the department at the same time from the perspective of terrestrial biology and marine biology. Due to the restrictions of course adjustment this semester, teacher Wen Guozhang will first conduct the course. The content of conservation biology this semester will first take over the content of the previous marine conservation biology course. If you have already practiced it, please avoid practicing it again.
The ocean is a vast biological resource and ecological environment. It is the origin of life and breeds a high degree of biological species. Unfortunately, due to excessive human use and destruction, many marine organisms and their habitats have been greatly reduced. This course will introduce the basic problems encountered by the marine environment at this stage and the current management methods. Students taking the course will be assigned many marine conservation issues and research examples in recent years, and conduct group reports and discussions.
1. Marine Conservation Biology-Basic Understanding
2. Endangered marine life
3. The biggest threat to marine life-fishing activities
4. Growing marine debris
5. Human perspective and management
Summary course objectives
1 Understand the major marine conservation issues currently encountered by Taiwan and other countries around the world
2. Summarize the main issues and knowledge gaps through literature reading and field visits.
3. Understand possible implementation difficulties and solutions through interaction with the public.
