本課程初期階段教授台灣傳統空間之知識，包含漢人的傳統建築形式、空間構成以及原住民的傳統建築特徵，乃至於莊、街、城（以上漢人聚落）、社（原住民聚落）等的複合規模空間。之後在輔以外來/殖民勢力所產生的新成型聚
落空間，學習以上各式空間受新型態建成環境影響後之型變。在學習其基本知識後，探討地域的構成中，找出小從建築大致城鎮等各式空間於地域鏈鎖中的定位，並理解社會經濟等環境背景與其空間的關係。
本課程後半則探討戰後聚落之變化，理解國民政府遷台下難民安置、土地改革、經濟高度成長以及步入全球化經濟後等階段住宅與商業聚落的空間演變。換言之，本課程不僅討論台灣聚落之原型，更欲使學習者能掌握空間之現代
性，進而對未來的聚落空間有所展望。
實務上，各種規模之空間分析不僅是探討原型，並在時間軸的變化剖析空間的消長與演進，從此明瞭空間構成的核心原理。本課程並會有實地聚落參訪與空間演習操作，俾使學習者有空間掌握的專業敏感度。In the early stages of this course, we teach the knowledge of Taiwan's traditional space, including the traditional architecture form, spatial structure, and the traditional architecture characteristics of the indigenous people, as well as the combination of tang, street, city (the above Han people's settlement), society (the indigenous people's settlement), etc. Size space. The second half of this course explores the changes in settlements after the war, and understands the spatial evolution of residential and commercial settlements in the stages of the National People's Government's efforts to resolve the difficult resettlement, land reform, high economic growth, and the post-economic economic development. In other words, this course not only discusses the prototype of the settlement in Taiwan, but also wants learners to master the modernity of space.

In practice, space analysis of various scales is not only an exploration prototype, but also analyzing the growth and evolution of space in the time axis, so as to understand the core principles of space structure. This course also has practical settlement visits and space performance operations, so that learners can have professional sensitivity to master.
本課程以英、日、中空間史論相關書籍內容編排而成，學習者可選擇中文參考書目閱讀。書目名單第一週公佈，但會與學習者討論再進行更動書目。
This course is compiled from the contents of books related to the history of the English, Japanese and Chinese space. Learners can choose to read the Chinese reference book catalog. The book list is published on the first week, but will discuss with learners before revising the book.
