From the 8th century BC to the 5th century AD, it developed from a small town on the Tiber River into an empire spanning Britain, continental Europe, West Asia, and North Africa. Ancient Rome was particularly successful in military, political, and social organization. Ancient Rome tolerated different races and people and was one of the greatest empires. Courses cover Early Italy, the Birth of Rome, the Republic, Octavian, and the Late Roman Empire, and include discussions of topics such as social class, family, women, and early Christian history.

The history of ancient Rome, from the eighth century BC to the fifth century AD, developed from a small town on the Tiber River into an empire spanning Britain, continental Europe, West Asia, and North Africa. Ancient Rome was particularly successful in military, political, and social organization. Ancient Rome tolerated different races and people and was one of the greatest empires. Courses cover early Italy, the birth of Rome, the Republic, the Octavian period, and the late Roman Empire, and include discussions of topics such as: religion, law, military, economics, and early Christian history. The course will present how the history of ancient Rome was constructed, and will also introduce the basic abilities required for research.
