唐、宋時期的詩歌，蓬勃發展，繁富多樣，是古典詩歌極為重要的階段。同一時期，禪宗也逐漸成為獨具特色的思想體系，眾家爭鳴，與佛禪相關的活動，成為詩人生活中不可少的一部分。無論是唐人所云「詩言與禪味，語默此皆清」，或是東坡所說「暫借好詩消永夜，每逢佳處則參禪」，都道出詩思禪心是日常生活中一種活潑沉靜的心靈狀態、也是豁然貫通、悠然心會的精神境界。本課程一方面選讀唐宋重要詩人的禪詩，如王維、白居易、蘇軾等；一方面也閱讀禪師的悟道、體道詩篇，以此認識唐宋詩歌與禪學的深刻關係。Poetry in the Tang and Song Dynasties flourished, became rich and diverse, and was an extremely important stage for classical poetry. During the same period, Zen Buddhism gradually became a unique ideological system, with many schools of thought contending, and activities related to Buddhism and Zen became an indispensable part of the poet's life. Whether it is what people in the Tang Dynasty said, "Poetry and the taste of Zen are clear in silence," or Dongpo said, "I will spend the night with good poetry for a while, and meditate in Zen whenever I find a good place," they all reveal the essence of poetry and Zen. It is a lively and calm state of mind in daily life, and it is also a spiritual state of sudden understanding and leisurely understanding. On the one hand, this course reads Zen poems by important poets of the Tang and Song Dynasties, such as Wang Wei, Bai Juyi, Su Shi, etc.; on the other hand, it also reads Zen masters’ poems about enlightenment and Taoism, in order to understand the profound relationship between Tang and Song poetry and Zen.
