Biological Invasions and Animal Behavior

Course Target

The human transformation of the earth undoubtedly makes ecological and evolutionary biologists transform into proponents of biological diversity or research pioneers due to global changes. Global changes include land loss, biological invasion, disease outbreak, biological resource encroachment, pollution and climate change. The above factors are not independent events but interlocking. If you don't take action immediately, the human species will clearly be the beginning of the sixth great destruction. Among them, global species changes will change greatly due to the human development and activities that bring into other external species. Although conservation biology has been valued over the past 35 years, external behavioral learning has been ignored; for example, why can certain types of behaviors be unblocked to invade the world? And can some types be distributed to a certain extent? How can invasions compete with local species? What about its predator-pig interaction, so what about the host-host relationship? These ecological studies are important and necessary in today's scientific studies. Unfortunately, Taiwan cannot stay out of the matter. There are so many types of people coming from abroad, but it can only treat the criteria (such as encouraging the removal of some external species) and rarely conduct more in-depth exploration of the invading ecology and behavior. The main factor is that the academic understanding is not very clear. This course should be the first topic to be developed in Taiwan at university. I hope this course can introduce more detailed academic research and develop the causes and responses of students' success in invasion.
