The course is designed for students who are interested in developing their English skills for the purpose of traveling. Lessons throughout the course progressively build a foundation for the experiences travelers/backpackers can expect during an international trip. By scaffolding information and language practice in a meaningful and task-oriented way, students will learn how to get around in an English-speaking environment. The course is divided into eight main content sections: at the airport, at the customs, on the airplane, making hotel reservations, ordering at bars and restaurants, shopping, sightseeing, and dealing with public transportation. Authentic materials will be used in order to expose students to real travel English in various situations. Task-based communicative activities will be frequently introduced for strengthening students’ problem-solving skills.
