"Teacher, you said that students are not serious about taking classes, they are all looking at mobile phones; but weren't students secretly reading novels or comics in the past? So is there any more serious ones?" "Teacher, you all said that we indigenous people on the Internet use their mobile phones as pacifiers, and they have to play mobile games and update their movements from time to time; however, when you adults pick up your mobile phone and play with a baby, their enthusiasm is not at all given to us. Also, , You see, many teachers immediately took out their phones after class, and even looked at their phones like students, eating while watching them! " "Teacher, Greek philosopher Aristotle, didn't you say that poems are more real than history? If poems representing arts are more real than history that describe real history, then it's okay for us to use mobile phones to watch anime and light novels. People with animation are more like people than people who are actually ugly!"
Today, when the Internet has become highly popular, we can see a lot of commentary, and artillery fire violently criticizes how the Internet harms people's body and mind. Especially when we see that digital indigenous people are always at school, walking, waiting for cars, eating, gathering or even sleeping, and they are always at mobile phones. We believe more that this digital virtual world is constantly corrupting and destroying people's hearts.
However, it is frustrating that even though many of the comments have been pointed out through rational analysis and scientific research that daily life is highly online and brings various disadvantages and harms, it is difficult to maintain a safe distance between digital indigenous people and the virtual world built by Internet technology; sometimes, they are even opposed by indigenous people to the point of being speechless.
But if you think about it carefully, the plausible opinions of the Aboriginal people are not completely unreasonable. Before Internet technology has appeared, does the novels and animations in the paper also form a virtual world that makes many people forget to eat and crazy, causing many people to fight and become frightened? ! Even in religious beliefs, we also vigorously show their believers that there is a virtual world different from the real world, heaven, sacred land, purity... Even if they can't see or touch them, aren't believers willing to give everything and just want to enter that vague world in the future? Desire, construct and indulge in the virtual world, it is obviously the original needs of human spirit and emotions, rather than rational calculations based on gains and losses.
Therefore, the purpose of this course is no longer to criticize online technology with great thoughts, but instead explore from a larger perspective: What kind of spiritual and emotional power is promoting people to build various virtual worlds, including the online world? What kind of problems does the world actually exist that make people think of ways to get rid of it, even if it's just a moment? And these virtual worlds can really make people surpass their evil reality, or are they solidifying reality without self-consciousness; can they make their lives more powerful and able to withstand reality, or make their pressure resistance worse and less resistant?
This course plans combine knowledge from different fields, discuss in-depth the nature of various virtual worlds, such as religion, stories, games, animation, etc., as well as people's love, hatred and hatred for these worlds. I hope that students who are studying will further understand themselves and their society, and then gradually change their relationship with the Internet world.
