With the advancement of science and technology, reliance on data and scientific research methods have become important basis in various fields. Discussions in architecture are inevitably tested in this way. At the same time, today’s research on architectural design is closely related to that of other disciplines. The correlation is becoming more and more obvious, globalization, urbanization, post-modernity, sustainability, A variety of cross-field and interdisciplinary knowledge, such as social and political, are an indispensable part of architectural research. In the face of such drastic information transformation, the information that architectural research and architectural design focus on often becomes numerous and complex. , often causing logical confusion between design intentions, information collection and research, and design decisions.
The urban cartography course on information visualization in 2021 will use cartography and map drawing as tools to connect design research, use the perspective of maps to explore more context of excellent architectural design, and learn thematic map methods To help connect design intent with contemporary information. This course will provide a narrative method with design as the purpose. The content will study contemporary design discourse through the study of modern architectural correlation theory, urban design theory, geographical landscape and other knowledge, and learn to draw critical (themes) that are in line with contemporary nature. sex) map.
This course is mainly aimed at students in design-related disciplines such as architecture, urban and landscape, etc., and helps students train in the logical thinking and expression methods of exploring research positions (Position) and establishing design discourses (Thesis) in the middle and later stages of undergraduate studies. As in the discussion of architectural design-related departments, there is often a lack of research tools to effectively organize design ideas. This course will use the most basic and professional design illustrations such as mapping and projection. Vocabulary, through the infusion of logic and thinking, helps students establish the basis for Position & Thesis.
