今天所存在的企業有其漫長的演變歷程，因此，要理解什麼是企業這個問題，必須要回到西方歷史的脈絡，在西羅馬帝國滅亡等一系列的動亂之後，西方世界在中世紀的時候已逐漸恢復元氣，市鎮、城市和交易會如雨後春筍般的興起，企業也在這樣的環境下漸漸地演變成今天的樣貌。自中世紀之後，西方經濟在文藝復興、大航海時代、科學革命以及啟蒙運動等一系列巨大的歷史變遷中逐步發展，與此同時，作為歷史變遷中重要行動者的企業也在歷史的進程中漸次成形，尤其是在工業革命之後。工業革命是人類歷史上一個很重大的分水嶺，因為在它之後西方工業不僅快速發展，也快速的在西歐國家中擴散，從而帶動了西歐國家經濟與社會的快速發展。也是從工業革命之後，可以看到企業組織開始成為一個國家經濟與社會發展的重要推動力量。因此，就西方近代社會的興起而言，企業扮演了具有重要影響力的重要角色，故本課程主要希望透過對西方經濟與社會的變遷過程中，企業的形成與其在社會中的地位有所探討，換言之，本課程期望可以幫助學習者深入了解在經濟與社會發展的歷史脈絡中，企業在社會中的影響力及其所扮演的角色。The enterprises that exist today have a long history of evolution. Since the Middle Ages, the Western economy has gradually developed in a series of huge historical changes such as the Renaissance, the Age of Discovery, the Scientific Revolution, and the Enlightenment. At the same time, enterprises, which are important actors in historical changes, are also in the process of history. gradually took shape, especially after the industrial revolution. The Industrial Revolution was a very important watershed in human history, because after it, Western industry not only developed rapidly, but also spread rapidly in Western European countries, thus driving the rapid economic and social development of Western European countries. Therefore, as far as the rise of modern Western society is concerned, enterprises have played an important and influential role. Therefore, this course mainly hopes to explore the formation of enterprises and their status in society through the process of changes in Western economy and society. , in other words, this course is expected to help learners gain an in-depth understanding of the influence of enterprises in society and the role they play in the historical context of economic and social development.
