1967 - 情緒社會學 Emotions in Social life

(本課程大綱為暫定,請依照老師第一節上課的講義為依據) 情緒社會學 Sociology of Emotion 上課時間:週五早上9:00—12:00 SS209 授課教師:鄭斐文 / Office Hour: 星期四下午2:00—3:00 在社會學領域中,「情緒」此一主題並沒有受到相當程度的重視。既有社會學理論中,與情緒相關的社會學大致有高夫曼的互動論、身體社會學研究、Hochschild的情緒勞動、以及女性主義研究之中有關女性情緒化、污名羞恥或歇斯底里等主題。面對日益複雜的現代/後現代社會,現在的人們到底有哪些情緒問題?如何解決?本課程切入當今的社會學、文化研究等跨學科領域,一方面,本課程將以情緒社會學角度,分析社會中集體情緒的「社會事實」,另一方面,我們將從「社會情緒學」調查「情緒」/心靈的特質。關於情感的討論看起來是私領域的經驗,但是從社會學的分析觀點來看,會發現私人情緒,很多時候與集體意識、政治認同、公領域互相關連。例如,Raymond Williams提的文化的「情感結構」(the structure of feeling)、集體暴力、國族認同、與集體創傷,或者與現代性有關的憂鬱、現代人的愛情觀、消費社會中慾望等等。個人情感與社會情緒兩者到底有什麼關係?我們如何使個人以及社會都能朝向「更快樂」的終極目標前進?又什麼是人類的痛苦來源?本課程從社會現象、社會學與跨學科的角度,來分析這個問題。分為四部分:1.資本主義消費文化下的人類慾望。在大眾媒體與資訊氾濫的時代,媒體與廣告消費如何影響我們的情緒?有哪些與上癮有關?2.情緒與勞動的關係。3.旁觀他人的痛苦時,我們會有哪些反應?如何思考他人與自己的痛苦的關係?4.社會情緒學:慾望、生氣、嫉妒、慈悲的情緒如何產生?社會情緒學:探討情緒勒索、上癮與古印度哲學中的心靈哲學。此部份將介紹近年來西方心理學界流行的「正念」心理學(mindfulness)與東方印度哲學的關係,並且探討不同哲學體系如何解釋並且提出解決人類痛苦之道。 私人情感經驗不能完全化約為集體或公領域的場域,但是,人類在成長過程中會面臨的妒恨、生氣憤怒、焦慮、恐懼、慾望、上癮等心理狀態,會受到集體環境與家庭環境影響。個人情緒更與身體疾病狀態互相影響,情緒會使得慢性疾病產生。到底這個互相影響是什麼?我們將選兩個「社會情緒學」的主題討論:1.上癮:網路、食品或消費慾望成癮。2.憤怒。3.情緒勒索。 (This course is generally determined, please follow the teacher’s lecture on the first session) Emotional Social Science Sociology of Emotion Class time: Friday morning from 9:00 to 12:00 SS209 Teaching instructor: Zheng Feiwen / Office Hour: Thursday from 2:00 to 3:00 pm In the social field, the topic of "emotion" is not valued to a considerable extent. In the existing social theory, the social sciences related to emotions include Goffman's interaction, physical social research, Hochschild's emotional sensibility, and feminism research on female sentiment, stigma, shyness or hysteria. Faced with the increasingly complex modern/post-modern society, what are the emotional problems of today’s people? How to solve it? This course enters the current interdisciplinary fields of social science and cultural research. On the one hand, this course will analyze the "social facts" of collective emotions in society from the perspective of emotional society. On the other hand, we will investigate the characteristics of "emotion"/spirit from "social science". Discussions about emotions seem to be experience in the private domain, but from the perspective of social analysis, private emotions are found to be related to collective consciousness, political recognition, and public domains. For example, Raymond Williams mentioned the "structure of feeling", collective violence, national identity, collective invasion, or depression related to modernity, modern people's love, desire in the consumer society, etc. What is the relationship between personal emotions and social emotions? How do we enable individuals and society to move towards the ultimate goal of "happier"? And what is the source of human pain? This course analyzes this problem from the perspective of social phenomena, social science and interdisciplinary perspectives. It is divided into four parts: 1. Human desires under the capitalist consumer culture. In an era of public media and information turbulence, how does media and advertising consumption affect our emotions? What are the related things to the upper body? 2. The relationship between emotion and movement. 3. What reactions will we have when we are watching others’ pain? How to think about the relationship between others and one's own pain? 4. Social Emotions: How do sentiment, vitality, jealousy and compassion arise? Social Emotions: Exploring the spiritual philosophy of emotional blackmail, surrender and ancient Indian philosophy. This section will introduce the relationship between "mindfulness" psychology that has been popular in the Western psychology community in recent years and Eastern Indian philosophy, and explore how different philosophical systems explain and propose ways to solve human pain. Private emotional experience cannot be completely converted into a field of collective or public domain. However, during the growth process, humans will face psychological conditions such as jealousy, anger, anxiety, fear, desire, and upbringing, which will be affected by the collective environment and the family environment. Personal emotions also affect the state of physical diseases, and emotions can cause chronic diseases. What exactly is this mutual influence? We will choose two topics for "Social Situation" discussions: 1. Overview: Internet, food or consumer desires become. 2. Angry. 3. Emotional blackmail.
