本課程希望同學能對其在經濟系上過的課程中的經濟學家或經濟學派能有一個連貫性的瞭解。課程由古希臘和古羅馬談起，包含了古典學派的亞當斯密、馬爾薩斯、李嘉圖，邊際主義、馬歇爾、洛桑學派、費雪、凱因斯、劍橋傳統的延續─皮股、羅賓遜夫人、古爾諾、艾奇渥斯，一般均衡理論─希克斯、柏雷圖、薩爾遜、李昂鐵夫等、熊彼德，弗里德曼。除了每個學派的內容之外，也加入經濟學家的小故事以增加課程的趣味性。並要求學生就其有興趣的學派或經濟學家做一篇報告。因此，除了，一般性的瞭解外，也能針對某一學派或經濟學家有較深入的認識。This course hopes that students can have a coherent understanding of economists or economic schools in the courses they have taken in the Department of Economics.
