廣義的“圖像”(包括電影，動漫和影像紀錄)做為一種「閱讀」的形式，已經是現今社會重要的思考和表述模式。在數位時代的發展過程中更多的技術，譬如AR(擴增實境)、VR(虛擬實境)和乃至於MR(混合實境)或XR(延展實境)，讓過去只能依賴文字的歷史的「再現」方式，在數位時代中將有不同面相的呈現方式。數位時代的敘事根本關鍵即是在圖像，或圖像所構成的動態畫面和情境。文字漸漸轉為輔助。
從史學應用的角度來說，歷史學和現世的連結很重要的部份是要建立在與歷史文化面有關的IP(智財權)上，在此趨勢下各界的努力已略見成果。譬如中央研究院所推動的台灣歷史文化的數位創意加值整合型計畫ccc創作集或著名的台灣吧，乃至公共電視「憤怒的菩薩」等均可說是是在這樣的浪潮下衍生出來的。與台灣歷史文化有關的圖像素材正不斷派生中。本課程旨在藉由閱讀與分析各種不同類別、性質與台灣歷史文化有關的“圖像”素材，幫助學生認識此種方式所“敘述”、“建構”的台灣「歷史」，並配合實作課程，進而培養以圖像建構出來的歷史思維與表述的能力。

"Images" in a broad sense (including movies, animations and video records), as a form of "reading", have become an important mode of thinking and expression in today's society. In the development process of the digital age, more technologies, such as AR (Augmented Reality), VR (Virtual Reality), and even MR (Mixed Reality) or XR (Extended Reality), allow the "reproduction" method of history that could only rely on text in the past to have different presentation methods in the digital age. The fundamental key to narrative in the digital age lies in images, or the dynamic scenes and situations composed of images. The text gradually becomes auxiliary.
From the perspective of historical application, a very important part of the connection between history and the modern world is to be based on IP (intellectual property rights) related to history and culture. Under this trend, the efforts of all walks of life have yielded some results. For example, the ccc creation collection, a digital creative value-added integrated project on Taiwan's history and culture promoted by Academia Sinica, the famous Taiwan Bar, and even the public television "Angry Bodhisattva" can be said to have been derived from this wave. Image materials related to Taiwan's history and culture are constantly being derived. This course aims to help students understand Taiwan's "history" that is "narrated" and "constructed" in this way by reading and analyzing various "image" materials of different types and properties related to Taiwan's history and culture. It also cooperates with practical courses to cultivate the ability of historical thinking and expression constructed with images.
