This seminar is designed to help students acquire skills essential for journalistic translation and editing. Students will actively engage in both hands-on practice and peer-reviewed exercises. The focus before the midterm is on full-text translations of pieces that are 300-500 words long. After the midterm, students will learn how to analyze, edit, and compile different news sources into one piece. The focus of the second half of the semester is to equip students with skills such as summarizing and adaptation fundamental to news translation, as well as with critical thinking to identify differences between foreign and local news media.
