本課程希望透過劇本的閱讀，引導學習者欣賞並分析各種劇本的形式和結構，同時配合課堂討論、選段讀劇及學期報告的撰寫，為學習者奠定「劇本」的戲劇美學底蘊，進而期待引發創作的可能性。
本課程將導讀分析的劇本，將包括各時代最具代表性的名作，以時間縱軸觀照各時代與戲劇美學的深層互動，因此也是兼具史觀、分析批評或創作準備的重要學習。
