課程目標:課程目標在使修課學生能對於影響台灣民主政治發展的地方派系有所瞭解與認識，並對於其歷史與造成影響能夠有所瞭解，從而誘發對於地方政治生態相關的研究興趣與主題發掘。
課程內涵:本課程主題聚焦在地方政治生態，主要面向包含地方派系、地方選舉、農會、地方政府等，從地方派系的定義開始，循序漸進依次討論，地方派系相關理論與研究途徑、地方派系的形成與發展歷史、地方派系的組織、結構及其運作 、派系與黑金、農會、都市化等關係，最後綜論其在台灣民主政治發展過程中的影響。Course Objective: The course objective is to enable students to gain an understanding of the local factions that have influenced the development of Taiwan's democratic politics, and to understand their history and impact, thereby stimulating research interests and topics related to local political ecology. 本專題課程之開設主要聚焦於透過對於地方政治組織與地方派系等等重要地方政治運作行為者所構成的地方政治生態網絡體系，進行相關理論、文章研究的由淺至深的研讀探討，使得研究生修習完本課程後，能夠對於地方政治及其生態具有深刻的認識與瞭解，進而觸發其在本領域的的研究興趣與研究方法的有效掌握。
