Mathematical statistics is a compulsory course for the first-year master's program. The course mainly teaches statistical theories and concepts, which serves as the theoretical basis for other statistics-related courses and cultivates students' ability to take more advanced statistics-related courses. This course guides students to learn theory and master the basic theories and concepts of probability and statistics through the process of definition analysis, theorem derivation and practical examples.
The course content includes basic definitions of probability, theorems, distribution and convergence concepts, etc. The statistics section introduces various related methods and theories such as point estimation, testing and interval estimation, and evaluates their advantages and disadvantages through small samples and large samples.
