Course Target

Think: A Compelling Introduction to Philosophy This course learns about the most popular topics in Western philosophy by reading Simon Blackburn's Think: A Compelling Introduction to Philosophy (1999) book: Knowledge, reason, truth, spirit, freedom, destiny, identity, God , goodness, righteousness, etc. Blackburn believes that when people think of philosophy, they often think that it is unrealistic, non-smoking, and strange; when philosophy teachers or philosophy students are asked what they are doing, they may find it difficult to answer. , and thus experience a silence. Blackburn positioned philosophers as concept engineers, just like scientists studying the structure of matter, philosophers studying the structure of thought: Our concepts or ideas create a spiritual house where we live, if we know the structure of something It involves understanding how its parts work, how parts and parts relate to each other, so that by understanding concepts or ideas and the relationships between them, we can understand our world view. Blackburn does not pre-design the readers to have a sufficient philosophical background, and he tried to explain the above topics in a popular and friendly way. Whether we have a philosophical background or not, after reading this book, it may be easier for us to answer what philosophy is and what people who read philosophy are doing.
