導讀二十世紀英國哲學家懷德海(A.W. Whitehead)的名著《科學與現代世界》。該書編輯懷德海在哈佛大學羅威爾講座(Lowell Lectures)的講稿，於1925年出版，是科學人文思想領域的鉅著。全書闡述科學興起的古典淵源；通過對科學知識、哲學思辨、宗教信仰之間對立發展的剖析，批判科學抽象思考之誤用，指出人與自然環境、人與人之間有機整體的關係，期待宗教與科學和解攜手，以及提出社會進步的必要條件。An introduction to the famous book "Science and the Modern World" by the 20th century British philosopher A.W. Whitehead. The book edited Whitehead's lecture notes at Harvard University's Lowell Lectures and was published in 1925. It is a masterpiece in the field of scientific and humanistic thought. The whole book explains the classical origins of the rise of science; through the analysis of the opposition and development between scientific knowledge, philosophical speculation, and religious belief, it criticizes the misuse of scientific abstract thinking, points out the organic whole relationship between people and the natural environment, and between people, and looks forward to the development of religion. Joining hands with scientific reconciliation and proposing the necessary conditions for social progress.
