Pitch and harmony is one of the most important courses for music majors. In the course, students will learn the technical and aesthetic aspects of composing and analyzing music in the tradition of Western tonal music.
Starting from reviewing the chords they have learned, students will learn various pre-dominant chords and different modulation methods. In addition to the writing of four-part harmony, the class will analyze a large number of musical notation examples to understand the effects of various modulations in music.
