本課程主要是Karl Polanyi經典《鉅變》（The Great Transformation）的導讀。透過工業革命與《濟貧法》、歐文（Robert Owen）及其社會實驗和William Blake的浪漫主義神學等三個參考座標，本課程嘗試還原《鉅變》的歷史、社會與知識脈絡，並透過文本講授與討論，協助修課同學掌握《鉅變》的思想貢獻與Karl Polanyi理論的當代重要意義。

This course is mainly an introduction to Karl Polanyi's classic "The Great Transformation". Through three reference coordinates: the Industrial Revolution and the Poor Law, Robert Owen and his social experiments, and William Blake's Romantic theology, this course attempts to restore the historical, social and intellectual context of "The Great Change". Through text teaching and discussion, it helps course students grasp the ideological contribution of "The Great Change" and the contemporary significance of Karl Polanyi's theory.
