教學目標
研究,就是說個故事,評個理。
本課程介紹科學研究的基本哲學以及社會學經常使用的研究方法,以養成學生獨立思考與研究執行之能力。本課程同時介紹基本的統計概念,其中將特別強調如何避免統計的誤用與濫用,以及統計在研究解釋上的限制,期能養成同學正確的統計態度。另外,將著重於量化研究的測量、抽樣、研究方法及資料分析,培養所有的社會系學生作研究應該具備的基本訓練能力:對有興趣的研究主題,能夠正確而自在的使用研究方法與量化的工具。
在課程安排上,上學期重在確定研究的議題、應用相關的理論、整理與回顧相關文獻;之後,將複習可使用的統計概念、設計封閉式的問卷、理解抽樣的原理、熟悉抽樣的流程等。下學期則要到東海校園各學院、各系所發放問卷並完成回收、整理問卷、輸入資料、設計量化的問卷問題答項,再應用各種統計工具,完成量化資料的分析,最後寫成完整的學術報告。
