教學目標
研究，就是說個故事，評個理。
本課程介紹科學研究的基本哲學以及社會學經常使用的研究方法，以養成學生獨立思考與研究執行之能力。本課程同時介紹基本的統計概念，其中將特別強調如何避免統計的誤用與濫用，以及統計在研究解釋上的限制，期能養成同學正確的統計態度。另外，將著重於量化研究的測量、抽樣、研究方法及資料分析，培養所有的社會系學生作研究應該具備的基本訓練能力：對有興趣的研究主題，能夠正確而自在的使用研究方法與量化的工具。
在課程安排上，上學期重在確定研究的議題、應用相關的理論、整理與回顧相關文獻；之後，將複習可使用的統計概念、設計封閉式的問卷、理解抽樣的原理、熟悉抽樣的流程等。下學期則要到東海校園各學院、各系所發放問卷並完成回收、整理問卷、輸入資料、設計量化的問卷問題答項，再應用各種統計工具，完成量化資料的分析，最後寫成完整的學術報告。
Teaching objectives
Research is about telling a story and evaluating it.
This course introduces the basic philosophy of scientific research and research methods commonly used in social science to enhance students' ability to think independently and conduct research. This course also introduces basic statistical concepts, which will specifically emphasize how to avoid misuse and mobility of statistics, as well as the limitations of statistics in research and interpretation, so as to achieve correct statistical objectives for students. In addition, we will focus on the measurement, sampling, research methods and data analysis of quantitative research, and cultivate the basic training abilities that all social students should have when conducting research: for interested research topics, be able to use research methods and quantification correctly and freely tools.
In terms of course arrangement, the last period focuses on determining the research questions, applying theories, sorting and reviewing related documents; afterwards, we will revise usable statistical concepts, designing closed questions, understand the principles of sampling, and be familiar with the sampling process. wait. During the next period, we will issue question papers to various colleges and departments of Donghai Campus and complete the question paper questions that are collected, sorted, entered data, and designed quantitative question paper questions. Then we will apply various statistical tools to complete the analysis of quantitative data, and finally write it into a complete academic report.
