當代對於儒家哲學的理解與討論有很多面向，在道德哲學方面，除了如當代新儒家牟宗三以義務論來理解外儒家之外，現代西方學者也以別的方式理解儒家，諸如角色倫理學（role ethics）、德性倫理學（virtue ethics）與情感主義（sentimentalism）。在政治哲學方面，牟宗三以良知自我坎陷開出民主的概念來說明當代儒家政治與古代儒家德性政治的不同，此外也有蔣慶力求與心性儒學切割的政治儒學，也有陳祖為提倡儒家致善主義（perfectionism）。本課程目標有三：第一，希望同學們可以對當代的儒家道德哲學與政治哲學有初步的理解；第二，鼓勵同學們透過討論評判各種立場，即批判式閱讀理解、重述論證；第三，鼓勵同學們嘗試提出自己不同於前人的儒家構想。There are many aspects to the understanding and discussion of Confucian philosophy in contemporary times. In terms of moral philosophy, in addition to the contemporary neo-Confucianism Mou Zongsan used his moral theory to understand other Confucianism, modern Western scholars also understood Confucianism in different ways, such as character ethics ( role ethics), virtue ethics and emotionalism. In terms of political philosophy, Mou Zongsan uses the concept of self-conscience to uncover democracy to illustrate the difference between contemporary Confucian politics and ancient Confucian moral politics. In addition, there is also political Confucianism that strives to be separated from Confucianism in mind and nature, and there is also Chen Zu's promotion of Confucianism. To achieve good deeds (perfectionism). There are three goals for this course: First, I hope that students can have a preliminary understanding of contemporary Confucian moral philosophy and political philosophy; Second, I encourage students to judge various positions through discussion and evaluation, namely critical reading and re-statement of the argument; Third, I encourage students to review various positions; , encourage students to try to put forward their Confucian ideas that are different from those of their predecessors.
