本課程之規劃上學期講述的範圍自古希臘經古羅馬至中世紀之發展與主要的各家思想。內容包括（一）先蘇時期的自然學﹔（二）辯士與蘇格拉底哲學﹔（三）柏拉圖與亞里士多德哲學﹔（四）希臘化時期的哲學﹔（五）基督宗教與教父哲學，俾使學生對古代西方哲學中有關知識論、形上學、倫理學、政治與社會哲學等思想有一宏觀視野，熟悉西方哲學史之發展脈絡與基本知識，並且有利於銜接對當代西方哲學的學習。The planning of this course last semester covered the development and main thoughts of various schools from ancient Greece through ancient Rome to the Middle Ages. 下學期主要講授自文藝復興以降至十九世紀的西方近代哲學史之主要思潮與哲學家思想，內容包括（一）文藝復興與近代自然哲學、（二）理性主義、（三）經驗主義、（四）啟蒙運動與近代政治哲學、（五）康德、（六）德國觀念論、（七）德國浪漫主義與民族主義思想，俾使學生對近代西方哲學中有關知識論、形上學、倫理學、政治與社會哲學等思想有一宏觀視野，熟悉西方哲學史之發展脈絡與基本知識，並且有利於銜接對當代西方哲學的學習。

The content includes (1) Renaissance and modern natural philosophy, (2) rationalism, (3) empiricism, ( 4) Enlightenment and modern political philosophy, (5) Kant, (6) German idealism, (7) German romanticism and nationalism, to enable students to understand the theory of knowledge, metaphysics, ethics, Have a macro vision of political and social philosophy, be familiar with the development context and basic knowledge of the history of Western philosophy, and be conducive to the study of contemporary Western philosophy.
