1. Preliminarily grasp the development of Chinese philosophy from the early Zhou Dynasty to the Wei and Jin Dynasties,

4. Have a basic grasp of the direction of Chinese philosophy,
5. Deepen your understanding of general philosophical issues.
本課程上講述中國哲學史及從五經之學，先秦的諸子百家，直到漢代哲學為止，其中介紹各朝代各哲學家的思想。內容包括：(一)五經之學:以周易、詩、書為主。(二)先秦諸子百家：主要講述儒家、道家、墨家、法家、名家，儒家方面以孔孟荀為主，道家以老莊為主。(三)漢代哲學：此包括董仲舒、淮南子、揚雄、王充等人的思想。
下學期講述魏晉玄學到清代哲學為止。內容包括：(一)魏晉玄學：主要是道家玄理，主要人物有王弼、阮籍、嵇康、郭象、等人。(二)隋唐佛學：主要是中國佛學之天台、華嚴、禪宗。(三)宋明理學：主要是程朱理學、陸王心學和劉蕺山思想。(四)清代哲學：王船山、戴震等人的思想。
This course tells the history of Chinese philosophy, from the Five Classics, the pre-Qin philosophers, to the philosophy of the Han Dynasty. It also introduces the thoughts of various philosophers in each dynasty. The content includes: (1) The study of the Five Classics: mainly Zhouyi, poetry and books. (2) One Hundred Schools of Pre-Qin Confucianism: It mainly talks about Confucianism, Taoism, Mohism, Legalism, and famous schools. Confucius, Mencius, and Xun are the main Confucianists, and Laozi and Zhuangzi are the main Taoists. (3) Philosophy of the Han Dynasty: This includes the thoughts of Dong Zhongshu, Huainanzi, Yang Xiong, Wang Chong and others.
The next semester will cover the metaphysics of the Wei and Jin Dynasties and the philosophy of the Qing Dynasty. The content includes: (1) Wei and Jin metaphysics: mainly Taoist metaphysics. The main figures include Wang Bi, Ruan Ji, Ji Kang, Guo Xiang, and others. (2) Sui and Tang Buddhism: mainly Tiantai, Huayan and Zen Buddhism in China. (3) Neo-Confucianism of the Song and Ming Dynasties: mainly Cheng-Zhu Neo-Confucianism, Lu-Wang Xin-Xue and Liu Jishan Thoughts. (4) Qing Dynasty philosophy: the thoughts of Wang Chuanshan, Dai Zhen and others.
