This seminar is designed to help students acquire skills essential for journalistic translation and editing. Students will actively engage in both hands-on practice and peer-reviewed exercises. The focus before midterm is on whole-text translation of 300-500 words. After the midterm, students will learn how to analyze and edit different news sources into one piece. The focus of the second half of the semester is to equip them with skills such as summary and adaptation fundamental to trans-editing news, as well as with critical thinking to identify differences between foreign and local press.
