隨著數位資訊科技的快速發展，具備數位文件閱讀與資料分析的能力，已成為當前從事學術研究者所應具備的基礎資訊素養。本課程的教學目標，旨在提升學生的資訊素養，使學習者能充分掌握相關的數位訊息，並能透過資料庫與檢索系統進行資料之整理與分析。而課程目標之規劃，包括四大項目：第一，網路資源運用，使學習者能充分掌握網路有關國學方面之資源，藉以瞭解當前學術研究之概況與未來發展；第二，數位文件閱讀與製作，使學習者能熟悉各類數位文件之閱讀與格式之轉換，進而能製作合於規範之數位文件；第三，Access資料庫建置，藉由應用程式Access製作文獻資料庫，並以資料庫管理數位文獻與資料分析；第四，數位資料之檢索，使學習者瞭解全文檢索之工具與檢索的技巧。With the rapid development of digital information technology, the ability to read and analyze digital files has become the basic information that current academic researchers should have.
