修課學生可對現今生物學的內容與其在醫藥上的應用能有所認識，也可學習從生物學角度去重新審視或結合其所學專業文法商社會等領域的知識內容。當在面臨急速社會的變遷過程中，能充份掌握對生命本質、健康與科技生活及生態保育等正確的概念與處理態度，成為新時代中堅的知識份子。課程內容從地球生命的起源及生物演化開始介紹，隨續談論生命基本單位細胞的功能，粒線體與老化癌症的關係，體細胞複製，生殖作用等，再接續講解有關遺傳學理論與現代生物科技的應用及爭議等課題。提供學生對於生命科學相關理論與生物科技進展應用等的知識。學生在通過此課程後，除能對現今生命科學的內容與其在生物醫藥上的應用能有所認識外，也可從生物學的角度去重新審視或應用在其專業領域，例如法律或社會工作等所學的內容上。

Students taking the course can gain an understanding of the content of current biology and its application in medicine, and can also learn to re-examine or combine knowledge from the fields of grammar, business and society they have studied from a biological perspective. In the face of rapid social changes, we must fully grasp the correct concepts and attitudes towards the nature of life, health and technological life, and ecological conservation, and become the backbone intellectuals in the new era. The course content starts with an introduction to the origin of life on earth and biological evolution, and then discusses the functions of cells, the basic unit of life, the relationship between mitochondria and aging cancer, somatic cell replication, reproductive function, etc., and then continues to explain topics such as the application and controversy of genetic theory and modern biotechnology. Provide students with knowledge about life science-related theories and biotechnology progress and applications. After passing this course, students will not only be able to gain an understanding of the content of today's life sciences and their applications in biomedicine, but also be able to re-examine or apply what they have learned in their professional fields, such as law or social work, from a biological perspective.
