Applied Econometric Analysis

教育目標 Course Target

The course aims to show how economic principles can be applied in practice, by incorporating the theoretical insights together with relevant empirical evidence and programming skills. In particular, students will learn how to make a causal inference when conducting empirical studies. This course introduces the fundamental methods of applied econometric analysis and their applications in a range of topics, such as health, labor, and education. In specific, the course covers the following three parts:
1. Data analysis and statistical programming skills
2. Fundamental methods of applied econometric analysis: linear models, panel data models (fixed effect), binary and multinomial response models, panel data models (random effect), and dynamic models (ARIMA and Markov switching model)
3. Topics in economics: health, labor, education, and industrial organization.
